Transitioning to a sustainable lifestyle! I'm working toward not only reducing my waste but actually replenishing my environment.

Practice the knowledge of the earth! Use myself as a vesicle to create ecosystems that can provide for my needs life food, water, shelter and fun! No more! I don't need more. That's what got us in this mess in the first place. Being content with myself and others creates an atmosphere of opportunity. Like when we were children, we didn't ask for a world of stuff to do, it naturally filled our open minds with life. My first task is making my parents home sustainable!
Educating myself about how the past was and how to re-make the natural systems that support our live on earth. More on the Grow page!

MAKEING MY PARENTS SUSTAINABLE
1.) Recognize our habits.

Positive Habits

Negative Habits

Read books

Cook with good oils(coconut, olive)

Don't eat out much

Realize material goods are not everything

High expectations for personal fulfillment

Faith in something larger than us

Use big words

Have a back and front lawn for propagation

Heat home with natural gas and electricity from coal burning

Excess purchasing of pleasure inducing items(video games, alcohol, electronics, junk food)

Support globalized corporations that exploit workers, environment and ethics(Walmart, Safeway, Pepsi, Nike, Petroleum Industry) Usually because we have little choice in the matter

Depend on others for things we could do yourself(clothing, energy, food, music)

Work jobs that are disenfranchising and not optimizing our full potential

2.) Break away from negativity and follow dreams.

Quit jobs
Quit school
Spend all money on sustainability tools(land, irrigation, live stock)
Relax
Meditate
Slow Down
Give my car away and all possessions that make me want more(TV, Ratio, Computer, Liquor)

3.) Focus my energy toward the land and becoming sustainable.

Tear up my lawn to plant enough food to can and sustain my huger throughout the year
Raise chickens, goats, rabbits to milk and eat and love
Save rainwater
Create a pond for cleaning gray water(dirty) with plants, fish and algae
Build a Geodesic Dom for green house and storage
Build more compost bins and worm bins

SUSTAINABILITY CLUB @ ACC

In 2009 I started a Club at Arapahoe Community College to join people together for bettering the earth. Our slogan is "Put the community back into college". Here is our mission statment.

ACC’s Sustainability Club
Mission Statement
Purpose:
As students and staff of Arapahoe Community College we feel a need to be contributing members.  By gaining an education or degree we help develop ourselves, but we feel the circle is not complete.  Improving our community along side ourselves is imperative to truly get the full experience of this opportunity of ACC.  Our world is changing at an ever increasing rate.  We see the effects of change all around in the news, our communities and in our governments.  Sustainability Club is taking a pro-active approach to lessening our detrimental effect of the natural systems that support us.  Through educating ourselves and others about the things we can do to alter our lifestyles to not only stop hurting but actually start to revitalize our earth today, we can create a better tomorrow.

Goals:
Every community is unique whether it be the resources, people, or the geography.  Taking a holistic approach to life brings into consideration clean air, water, food, housing, energy and the like.  Sustainability means a system is capable of continuing indefinably.  This means not using limited resources in long-term systems.

Creating a space where students, staff and the community can come together to grow food, relationships and ideas is the focus.  A Community Garden would allow people to re-tool themselves, enjoy nature and know where there food came from.

Recycling is a great way to sustain our valuable resources.  Plastics, aluminum, paper and glass are all made from very complex processes which take a lot of energy, time and effort.  By closing the loop with a recycling program we affectingly reduce our negative impact across the board.  Keep in mind reduce, reuse, rethink, refuse and then recycle.

Resilience is a strong characteristic of the human soul.  Empowering people to dream big and then act to manifest there potential is key to sustainability.  Love and support can change anything, for indeed, it is the only thing that ever has…
